One of the best locations to have a small, intimate wedding or elopement is at a boutique hotel. St Louis boasts several in the area. Like Hotel Ignacio in Mid-Town. Nicole and Kendall were married by the fireplace of the hotel lobby in the winter time. They enjoyed a brunch-style reception following for their guests. I received a phone call from a young man who is in the armed services. He asks if it is possible to get married in the USO at Lambert Airport here in St. Louis. The three things I must have in order to confirm my services is a date, location, and time. "Jeff" was on furlough and had organized a flight for his fiance', "Kathy", to fly into St. Louis. The plan was to meet at the airport, take a taxi to the county clerk's office, go back to the airport, and get married in the USO. I had the date and the location, but not the time because they were depending on transportation to take them from place-to-place. My schedule allowed me to wait until they called from the county office, and then head out to the airport where I would perform the ceremony before 2:00pm. Promenade Ballroom - Capacity : 260 Dance Floor in the Promenade Ballroom This location has high reviews on service and the urban atmosphere makes one feel like it is a boutique hotel, but with full amenities.  The Promenade Ballroom has a unique glass entrance that can flow with candles as guests walk in.  The pre-function room is a great open space perfect for the cocktail hour before the wedding reception and includes a grand piano.  The ballroom has an immediate feeling of warmth with so many lighting options to choose from. Meet Beth and Luke Luke + Beth They live in San Diego and decided to come to St. Louis to get married. Beth grew up here so it has a special significance. They decided to Elope in St Louis in May - two months to plan. The flowers added a spark to their apparel. Kirkwood Florist provided the bouquet and boutonniere. Both wanted to tie the knot at the Grand Basin in Forest Park. With only 19 guests in attendance they did not feel they needed to rent the space. No chairs, no music - just a short, sweet and simple ceremony. So we just POPPED UP - and it was wonderful !! Thanks for RICK FORRESTAL who was the professional photographer.

I was out for some evening shopping and came back to find that I had three voice mail messages.  Inquiries after 5pm are not rare, but two out of three were from the same phone number.  Anita and Paul called from Milwaukee saying they were leaving at 4AM to drive to St. Louis to elope and would I be available. My calendar was clear as many Tuesdays are for the most part.  Good thing I called them back even though it was after 9pm.  Anita was so sweet on the phone.  She had already done all the research for Marriage Laws in Missouri.  There is no waiting period like there is in Wisconsin where the waiting period is 6 days. When a couple TRULY elopes - six days is too long! I just booked a " quickie wedding " for a young couple wanting to get married as soon as possible. In my business, no matter how well you know or counsel the couple, they are either going to make it or break it. The odds of this couple are just as good as anyone else's really. Just because the bride is 19 and the groom's name is John E. Walker (the popular Scotsch whiskey) is no means to judge. John is going into the marines and the bride wants to be sure she gets all the benefits of being a military wife. At 19, who can blame her.
